Providential encounter! The small community of joyful-looking parishioners were found ready
This 33rd Sunday morning, I “caught” a Catholic community at worship. I was in Enugu, but not sure if my flight would arrive Abuja for me to catch up with the regular Sunday Mass, I told Fr. Emeka to find out any Church near the airport where their Mass is at 10.00 am.
St. Helena’s Pastoral Area Church was identified to have their 2nd Mass at 10.00 am. The Enugu-Abuja Air Peace flight was punctual, so, I drove straight from the airport to the Church located at River Park Estate, and the people with the Augustinian priests who look after them were about to start Mass.
I took over the Eucharistic celebration and presided. What a providential encounter! The small community of joyful-looking parishioners were found ready even though they did not know I was coming. We had a lovely celebration of the Holy Mass. May Jesus’ coming find us ready in faith and good works.
