The Archbishop of Abuja, His Grace, Most Rev. Ignatius A. Kaigama, received His Excellency, Mr. Michael Freeman, Ambassador of Israel to Nigeria on a courtesy visit.
They discussed matters of mutual interest as well as the current state of war involving Israel and Hamas in Palestine. The Archbishop expressed his spiritual closeness with the victims of the war, calling for the unconditional release of hostages and a ceasefire. He believes that kinetic approaches to the conflict cannot bring about lasting peace in the area. “Where reason is allowed to triumph,” the Archbishop remarked, “there can be reconciliation and peace is possible. The needless killings and destruction should stop.”
